A summer gig with new acquaintancies
First concert with new friends
For the moment
The present two week period contains playing; Helena Andersson Bromander’s great music, concert with Beethovens symphony nr 7 and Stravinsky’s ”Rite of Spring”. Uppsala university ceremonial music such as Peter Warlock, Lars-Erik Larsson, Britten, then again concert w Beethoven symphony no 7, Stravinsky’s ”Rite of Spring”, laying down some electric Hard Rock bass on a track and then recording some jazz with Mary Nelson, trumpeter Jan Allan and great parisian pianist Julien Kohler.
This period ends with some music from the operas and world of musicals; Verdi, Donizetti, Mozart, Bernstein and Schoenberg. All styles has their pleasing moments. Nice!!
My Roth bass
After many years of hesitation, I finally
bought a five string double bass.
It should have been natural because
I played five string (and six stringer) electrics for many years, but a double bass is something else.
Simply put, my Ernst H Roth sounds
fantastic all over.
It is a huge bass with a dark and strong deep sound.
The vibrating string length is 110 cm.
My Bassot with c-extension is still my favourite but the Roth will be
orchestral bass no 1.
Gerold Genssler’s Sonore 2011 and 2012 (Helix) strings
I have used the Sonores 2011 and 2012 for some time and I must say that
the feel and sound is fantastic.
Then, when I put on the Genssler sonophil tailpiece wires, the sound ”matured”
even more.
Kudos signor Genssler!!
